Thanks for the additional info Barbara.

Bill,
Please don't assume that the race contestants are representative of all of us from the US. Though if you want to think we are all that slim and good looking... Keith |
I think the 1st season DVD set sold well enough, that they decided to release the 7th season (the one with Rob & Amber). I don't think this one sold very well.
With baseball, they play just about everyday when it comes to the LCS and World Series. But chances are, the ratings will be horrible if the Yankees and Red Sox are not in it. Don't get me started the Emmys. |
I was hoping that season 2 would be released this year. I didn't see the first 4 or 5 races.

Can anyone tell me how long the show will run on Sunday night? Starts at 830, but I need to know when to tell the VCR to shut off...
Then the next Sunday will it be on at 8pm for an hour? Again, must set VCR. Thanks - I hate to miss the start of the race. |
I think it's going to be 1 1/2 hour, but just set your VCR for 2 hours and the worst that's going to happen is you'll have part of the next show.
|
I am setting my VCR to run long, since the football games may mean it starts late.

TiVo is the way to go....and by the way, I think Sunday time slot is great. There is not enough money to make me watch Desperate Housewives, so I am tickled pink with AR10's air schedule! :-D

I'm not normally one to frequent Wikipedia, but their entry for "Amazing Race" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Race) is pretty awesome. Of particular interest to me is the proposed "Amazing Race Central Europe". The criticisms listed at the end of the article are many of the same ones that turned me off to the whole premise: For God's Sake, quit bunching everybody up at the airports or unopened tourist sights. And I'm getting sick of the "Fear Factor" gross-out food tasks.
From what I've read elsewhere, this season's race doesn't any places I'm all that eager to see. Stick to Europe...Better yet, I'll keep watching Samantha Brown. |
Zeus-- you have pointed out well the weak points of this otherwise amazing show; airports bottlenecks and gross food contests (which I think should be banned all together).
My favorite season was the one they venture into VietNam; never imagined such beautiful sights. Last season was pretty good, too. The Family Edition was dismal. BTW, I have watch EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of every season. |
hello,
I am so surprise nobody have posted a response. I liked the start of the new season,it is going to be different with new rules and few surprises. I am glad that Bilal and saeed lost,I did not like them from the start, sorry that Vipul and Arti lost, they were very nice and friendly, dont like the coal miner and the wife either, they sound like the wrestlers a few seasons back. It looks like Tyler and James are the best so far. |
Yesterday episode was great. I love watching and seeing all the places I've been. Seeing the Great Wall brought back my memories from going exactly a year ago.
Some very interesting teams too. I like the models, and the coal miner and his wife. Makes for interesting television. Europe is great, but that is what I love about TAR, they go to so many different places. |
I've often seen this mentioned on Fodor's but never had any idea what it was until now, so thanks Zeus for the Wikipedia link.
Still curious about how it's connected with European travel, though. Have previous series taken the contestants to European places which have then inspired viewers to travel there ? |
OK, did anyone else watching last night crack up when one beauty queen turned to the other and asked if Muslims believe in Buddah?
LOL |
Caroline, in almost every season, they go somewhere in Europe on their trip around the world. The threads were posted on this forum originally and have just stayed here. There is a move to have them on the US forum, and now we have three and none are of this one episode. So I'll be posting elsewhere.
|
Thanks Barbara,i did not know they changed it to the us forum.
|
Thanks for the explanation, Barbara !

Caroline, last season they shot in Red Square in front of St. Basils; in beer halls in Munich, plus ruins in Greece and Sicily before moving on to Africa locations. I know I've seen a number of places I became interested in, or more interested in, after seeing video of it. Some seasons have stopped at up to 5 different locations in Europe. It was fun to see Budapest and Eger onscreen, places we'd just visited. And although we have never been, it was a real extra incentive to visit when the show filmed inside the Hermitage. (all of it all too shortly of course, but enough to spark curiosity) |
PS, I'm glad they go to places like Ethiopia and India. Europe is pleasant and enjoyable and familiar feeling. But it wouldn't be the same show without these amazing and very different places. |
