Amalie/Rome
Morning
Looking for the best way to get from Almaficoast to Rome any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Massgirl |
Topic : spell. Check
Amalfi Coast/. Rome |
Where on the Amalfi Coast? Unless you're really far south, take a bus or private car to Sorrento, the Circumvesuviana train from Sorrento to Naples Garibaldi, and a fast train from there to Roma.
|
Others have also suggested getting to Salerno and training from there.
From Sorrento to Naples on Circumvesuviana is fine also. The most difficult thing is driving, bussing or taxiing along the Amalfi Coast to either place. Do you have time constraints on the day you travel to Rome? Massgirl, be kind, please. Not everyone has English as first language and those who know more than a few, can't spell anymore! |
Massgirl was correcting herself...
massgirl, you need to define "best way." For some, the best way from the Amalfi Coast to Rome is a private driver or taxi to at least the Naples train station if not all the way to Rome. Or do you mean most economical, or quickest, or least number of changes (bus-to-ferry-to-metro-to-train)... In addition to know where you'd be starting from, it would also be helpful to know what time of year as transport options are very different in off season. |
oops, sorry! I forget to always read poster name.
|
Hotel Luna Covento will be there
From Nov 1-4 then back to Rome to fly home Thank you for your reply !! |
Since I sent you the dates and location of the hotel where I'm staying is anyone able to help with transportation from Amalfi to Rome
|
If money is no object get a taxi to the Naples train station and then a high speed train to Rome. If you prefer to spend less, but take a lot longer, get the local bus to Sorrento, then the local train to Naples, then change to the high speed train to Rome.
|
Sorry - by Nov there will be few ferries running - perhaps none if the seas are rough so don; think about that.
Amalfi Coast in Nov would not be my choice - I don;t like beach resorts off season - but obviously you have decided what you want to do there. |
Still not sure how you define "best way." But if it was me, I'd arrange a driver to take me to the Salerno train station and then train directly to Rome. The fastest train journeys Salerno-Rome not involving a change are fairly early in the morning (9:14a, 9:52a). There are several other options throughout the day that connect in Naples or take longer.
There is also a bus that runs throughout the day between Amalfi and Salerno and another bus that operates between Amalfi and Naples. At this point, the company's website is showing timetables through Oct. 31, so you'd have to check back for November information. Or you could ask your hotel for advice. http://www.sitasudtrasporti.it/archi..._AUTUNNO.pdf/0 You can check train timetables here: http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en [use Italian spellings of names... i.e., Napoli, Roma.] |
Head south to Salerno and take the train to Rome from there.
There are no ferries in November. Don't go via Sorrento - that will add two hours to your trip. |
Agree with the two posters above. Arrange a taxi or car to take you to Salerno and then train to Rome. I did this with friends in July when we were leaving Ravello. They caught a train to Rome and I to Florence.

Thank you all for your help
Greatly appreciated |
As you are in Amalfi, you can take the bus to Salerno station, and there is a high speed train or normal train to Rome.
You can also get by bus to Rome from Salerno, I think this is the cheapest way, but also the most uncomfertable way. And of course you can take a taxi to Salerno.... It depends from your timetable, day you want to travel and money you want to spent! |
