Amalfi to Atrani - walk or take bus?

I will be staying down on the Amalfi Coast in mid-Sept. After exploring Amalfi, I would like to venture on to Atrani. I read that one can take a bus or walk there. However, I will have my 4 year old and don't know how strenuous and/or steep the walk is. Has anyone done this and is it easy? If not, then I will take a bus over, just not sure where I catch it in Amalfi. If anyone knows more information, please help me! Thanks.

Ciao Huitres,

The walk to Atrani from Amalfi is no longer than 10 minutes. From Amalfi you simply follow the road out of Amalfi(turn left from the main Piazza)up the incline past the tourist office and around the corner by the Hotel Luna and just before the road tunnel you walk through the Zaccaria restaurant on your right(it is a recognised footpath) once down the steps of Zaccaria you follow the small road down to the beach area of Atrani and through the arch is the main piazza of Atani. You can of course take the bus for the 3 minute journey (the frequent Salerno or Ravello services both stop at Atrani).Ring the bell on the bus just after the road tunnel and walk down the small stairway on the opposite side of the road into Atrani .

Grazie mile Gerardo! The walking seems easy enough, however, if I decide to take the bus (I will have a light-weight stroller for her), where do I catch the bus in Amalfi? Is it in front of the gelato place where all those other busses are or am I going somewhere else in Amalfi for the bus stop?

oops! mis-typed "mille"!

Huitres - In front of the gelato place.

Hope this helps ...

Both Salerno and Ravello bound buses which both pass Atrani leave from the main bus park on the seafront in Amalfi with Ravello buses leaving from the left hand side by the two white pergolas. Your journey will be no more than 2/3 minutes and costs €1. The walk is very easy, however as you leave Amalfi the sidewalk ends and you are forced to walk on the narrow road as far as the Zaccaria path just before the road tunnel.
