Amalfi/Positano accommodation
We are planning a trip to Italy in June/July '09. Any suggestions for good clean, comfortable budget accommodation for 4 people for 4 nights, Positano or nearby, would be appreciated, as our currency now going south rapidly, and we are committed to the trip.

Hi
Apartments would be your best option. The Hostel Brikette - http://www.brikette.com/prices.html - has apartments available in Positano. |
what's your budget exactly? i know it's hard to stay cheap with 4 people.
our family of four stayed in a lovely 2 bedroom unit at the Villa Rosa for $280 per night. this hotel is incredible -- beautiful views from terrace, kind people, etc. We absolutely loved it, and could not recommend it highly enough. i had looked into apts to save $$ , but many have a 1 week minimum. if you want more info about what our family did, you can check out my trip report, and positano is at the beginning. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35148689 good luck, and have a great trip!! dina |
I agree about apts. Go to www.summerinitaly.com and then call them on their toll free# to find one for less than a week--good people--tell Luca I sent you.

Thanks all, 4 the assistance and advice. Budget? I guess that has become whatever it takes. It is now a matter of keeping costs down where possible, as we are in Europe, doing Italy, France and Switzerland, over a three month period. We are travelling from New Zealand, hence the problem with a volatile currency, as we commenced arrangements before the economy went belly up. Will keep you informed of progress. Again, thanks.

Hi mf,
For what they are quoting for apts, you might like to look at www.lesirene.com in Praiano. Praiano is about 6 km E of Positano, on the SITA bus line. The Orange bus will take you to the Positano docks. ((I)) |
Hi ira,
Thanks for your post, and have made bookings at Le Sirene, and looking forward to the stay. |
Enjoy your visit, MF.
I have a trip report that might help you: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34451044 ((I)) |
Hi Ira,
Thanks for the informative trip report. Makes us more determined to spend extra time in Italy. Currently we have bookings for Rome/Positano/Siena/Portofino/and maybe Venice for a return visit. From there to France, no bookings as yet, 3 weeks, and Switzerland 1 week, back to NZ via Vienna/Beijing/Shanghai. The budget no longer exists, but excitement is growing. Roll on May 16. |
Have a great trip, MaryFrances.
To whet your appetite, here is my report that includes Beijing and Shanghai: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34984181 And if your eyes are not tired: Amalfi coast trip, last May: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35128776 Portofino area/Ligurian coast, a few months ago: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35160904 Warning--food talk figures prominently in all of these! |
