Amalfi Highway
Is there a train that travels along the Amalfi Highway? If so, where does this train go?
|
Hi Lil, I don't know about a train, but there is a great little local bus that leaves from Piazza Tasso in Sorrento and goes down the Amalfi Drive stopping at Positano and Amalfi. You can pick up another bus to Ravello (maybe a 10 minute ride and well worth the trip). It's fantastic.
We drove the Amalfi Coast last year and it was fantastic. At times, it seemed quite dangerous, especially when a huge tour bus flew around a tight narrow corner and we literally had to threw the car in reserse as that bus was not stopping nor even slowing.
We then drove back at night----never ever again.

Lil, drive the Amalfi and do it at your own pace. The buses are acommodating, they slow at the corners and sound their horn. We drove on a drizzly morning in September and since business was slow a few storekeepers threw in a lagniappe.

The road along the Amalfi Coast is a narrow 2 lane curvy road (or 3 for daring cars) - definitely not a "highway" by our standards. There is no train and it's a good thing, too. Take the time to enjoy the view.
