amalfi coast....what airport?

I am planning a trip to the Amalfi coast next summer (with kids). I have been looking at villas to rent in Sorrento....but which airport would we fly into? Is it Naples?
Any ideas on other places to go?

Hi TK - Naples is the nearest main airport.

Alternatively you could fly into Rome - about 3 hrs from the Amalfi Coast.

There are also domestic flights into Salerno (- from Milan, I believe) in high season.

Hope this helps ...

Fly to Naples.

Naples is a great city. You can see some if it here:

Here is video about the region of Campania:

Sorrento is a good location to see the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and Naples. It is not on the Amalfi Coast per se, but is at the top. East boat access to Naples, Capri and Amalfi from Sorrento.

Everyone always loves Positano also. Some video here:

Paestum's Greek Doric temple ruins are cool also:

It is a wonderful area - the kids will fall in love with the history and of course the pizza:

Yes, I completely agree with the Naples airport because uour basis will be Sorrento but now, you should now, it is working also the Salerno airport whose official label is "Amalfi Coast Airport" to mean how it will be enabler to easier and better way to arrive there by airplane.

Ciao Vincenzo -

Salerno airport is just for domestic flights, isn't it?

I know you mentioned this before, but are there flights into Salerno from anywhere else besides Milan?

Buona giornata

Steve

Buona giornata a te, dear Steve.
Salerno airport has domestic flights with Milano Malpensa, Catania and Verona, but also international flights and few of these are interesting for USA trip: Munich in Germany first of all, and also Barcellona in Spain.
Anyway, the best solution is, IMO, USA - Milano Malpensa - Salerno.
Ciao, e Buona Domenica.
