Amalfi Coast with Baby

Hi,
We're planning to take our two year old to the Amalfi coast at the end of March. We'll be there for 4 or 5 days.

Question...we'll do lots of strolling around with the baby. We visited Sorrento before we had the baby. I know Sorrento would be okay for the baby...lots of places to stroll...not many steps. Does anyone have any other suggestions? What about Positano?

We took the baby to Venice last year and that was some tough work. We had to carry the stroller over every canal in the hot sun. We're trying to avoid the same fate...so any advice would be nice.
Thanks,
David

If you feel you can only get around with your child in a stroller, Positano will be difficult as there are many, many steps.

I remember climbing steps all over the place in Amalfi Coast. In my opinion, if Venice was a hassle with a stroller, then I think Amalfi will be a hassle too.

If you stay in Positano you will spend your entire vacation carrying the stroller and baby.
The entire town is built on a hill. Amalfi is a bit flatter, but still not flat by any stretch.

For a stroller amost anyplace on the Amalfi coast would makeVenice look like a picnic. These townsare cut into the side of a mountain-not just a few stairs likeVenice.

If you can find a hotel right next to the water and travel by ferry - and never go into the upper parts of any of the towns you could manage it.

Just a thought, probably meaningless. But there are many local women who have babies on the Amalfi Coast. Perhaps they know of some alternative way to get around town with their young ones...and still enjoy the beauty of the place.

Hi- We were in Amalfi & Positano in January with our 23 month old. Yes- there are stairs & lots of them! I agree with Bellastar- there are locals with children & they manage. Our daughter was in & out of the stroller anyway & it was fine. After carrying her/the stroller all over Italy for 3 weeks I don't even remember it being an issue! The beauty of the area will quickly make you forget any minor inconveniences anyway. Our daughter could have spent hours playing with the pebbles on the beach (even with a coat & hat on!) Have fun & enjoy your trip.
