We had several favorites on Amalfi Coast and Capri. In Positano we had a great meal at Caffe Positano (http://www.caffepositano.it/) last summer. This summer we had a wonderful lunch at Ristorante del Pesce d'Oro just outside Amalfi (http://www.alpescedoro.it/).

On Capri last year, we were unimpressed with Villa Verde at lunch - food was so-so, but the service was not good, which may have been a function of timing, with all the day-trippers there at the time. We had a fabulous (and fabulously expensive) dinner at Terrazza Brunella at the Villa Brunella on the Via Tragara (http://www.terrazzabrunella.com/salsa/en/index.html).

Hope this helps.

I had an excellent dinner at Terrazza Brunella also - incredible! However, I think it is more of a dinner place. Loved Il Ritrovo and Donna Rosa, this year will try La Tagliata, I think if doing lunch on a day visit to Positano it would be better to pick something in town, however. Is Da Constantino the one next to Bar Internationale? Thanks for reminding me of some fabulous meals and more places to try this September.

Hi Jen - No, Da Costantino is way above Bar Internazionale up the cliff (... up about 300 steps )

The easy way there is to catch the local Montepertuso/Nocelle minibus.

Lovely place for an evening meal with one of the best views in town.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

P.S. Be aware that that bus service stops mid-evening.

Thanks Steve, I will definitely try it - by early do you mean 7:00 or 8:00, I usually eat dinner alot later in Italy? Last year I hiked from town up to Montepertuso so I think the bus is the way to go for a nice dinner, don't think the other diners would care to see me show up dripping with sweat . Thanks for the tip!

For Positano our favorite retaurant was Ristorante Da Vincenzo - we had a wonderful meal and the owner and his family were wonderful. We liked it much better than Cafe Positano which is right next door. Our apartment owner said he enjoys both and said some weeks he prefers one over the other!

Also had a great lunch at Da Vincenzo in Positano two years ago. Let the owner order for you.

Hi Jen - Probably the best idea is to reserve a window table a day or three in advance - that way you're sure of a meal-with-a-view
