Amalfi Coast. Is it SAFE?
my husband wants to go to the amalfi coast, which is close to Naples. I have heard nothing but scary things about Naples.
Is it safe? Please let us know what your experience... thanks..... |
Death waits in the shadows.
It is, of course, deadly to even look upon Naples: you've heard the phrase "See Naples and die"? It is convenient that the entry to the Underworld is nearby, at Avernus. Night is given over to the flick of the stiletto and the screams of victims: "But it's in Rick Steves . . ." |
The Amalfi Coast scares me silly every time I go.

My dear e,
Naples, for the tourist, is no worse than any large city and sader than some. You will, at most, simply pass through the train station on your way to the AC, unless you wish to vissit the Archaeological Museum and the other interesting and beautiful parts of the city. ((I)) |
The thing to worry about Vesuvius blowing up while you're there.

My wife and I walked around Naples for an entire day and had no problem except for people driving their motorabikes on the sidewalk. Just be aware of everything around you.
The Amalfi Coast is very safe and you will have no problme ven walking during the vevening. Have a great trip and don't worry? David |
We are taking the train from Messina Sicily back to Naples and then want to go to the Amalfi Coast. What is the best way to the AC from Naples? Local train or bus? We also want to see Pompeii and have reservations to stay in Sorrento. The plan is to base out of Sorrento around the AC and maybe a day trip to Capri. Is the local bus the best way around the AC area? Thanks,
