Amalfi Coast/Capri itinerary & lodging

Hello,

2 adults and a 12 year old will be in the AC area early June. Does anyone have ideas on lodging that will shuttle us from Naples airport to the area?

Is it possible to do Blue Grotto and Mount Solaro in a day?

We would also like to see Amalfi and Vesuvio. We have 3 nights in the AC area.

What is the best means of travel to and from these areas? Are they too far apart to do in the time allotted?

We would like a good view from the hotel but do not wish to pay 5 star prices!

All suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Yes, but remember that the Blue Grotto is not always open.

I dont' know of any lodging that provides a shuttle from Naples. We hired a private driver to pick us up at the Naples airport and drive us to Positano. I believe the cost was around 100 euros but this was about 5 years ago. We used the same driver for the trip to Rome from Positano and that was around 300 euros. I will say that our decision to hire the driver vs. renting a car was the best decision I may have ever made in terms of traveling overseas. Driving on the AC is not advisable for the rookie.

Hotel Le Sirene in Praiano will include a taxi free of charge from Naples to their hotel if you stay a minimum of 7 nights. per their website

Blue Grotto: I was reading about it being closed due to weather. With that said, what are our chances of weather being an issue in June?

rlbplf: Thank you for validating that my idea of a driver is not crazy. I am really looking forward to sitting back while an experienced person is at the wheel!

Scat: We are still finalizing the itinerary.... I'm not sure we will be in that area for 7 days (as much as we'd love to be there the whole time). This trip with the 3 generations is only going to happen once, so we have to keep moving!
