PS - The calculation above changes slightly if your trip includes enough sites to go into paying for extras with the 3 day Artecard... after which the annual one's probably better!

By the way, for current prices:

3T UnicoCampamia

Artecard 365

Artcard 3 day, tutta la regione

FYI - Only a few of the Campania Artecards include transport. I think the 3 day tutta la regione is the only one that includes all the way to Paestum. The 7 day and 365 do not include transport. All the cards with travel are for consecutive days once validated. You will likely have some days where you won't be traveling. There is also a one day transport ticket (7.20€).

Thank you GAG, kybourbon and A Brit in Ischia for all the valuable information in this thread, and others. I'm tentatively planning a trip in October 2013 that will include stays in Positano and Capri and possibly a night in Naples (plus a stay in Bellagio). All the transportation and pass information is so helpful. I've been copying it to my upcoming trip file for future reference.

Do you have any specific recommendations on car services for the Amalfi Coast region? I've been gathering recs as I see them, but I'm always looking for more.

We just got back and used Sorrento First Choice car service. Excellent driver who was a first-class tour guide/historian for the area, made great dining suggestions, and amazingly knew how much time we needed in each city.

The looks on the faces of those waiting to catch the south-bound bus in Positano was enough to convince me that we made the right choice. Our driver could drop us in the middle of town, instead having to hoof it to the bus stop, and we saw people melting in 95 degree heat at the stop, only to find out there wasn't even standing room, so they had to wait for the next one. I can't imagine standing on a hot, fully-loaded bus going through all those turns either.

For October 2013, you'd be best to only "pencil in" the details of those transport arrangements...

Perhaps an idea to call back here this coming October, and check what's available during that part of the season - although lots may have changed again by the following year!

GAC...where will I find a similar link for the ferry and hydrofoil schedules and fares? I will be staying in Positano and traveling to cities/towns along the Amalfi Coast from mid-late September.
The time and effort that you have put into helping others is to be applauded. Thank you.

For the sake of anyone visiting this year.....

I checked with the Metro del Mare today, and September 2nd is the end of their 2012 season.
