Amalfi coast
 

Hi, can someone help with this? We need to get from Naples Piazza Garibaldi to Amalfi coast. I tried searching online and it seems that the best way is to take the circumvesuviana train to sorrento, and then take a bus. Question is: what bus should we take?

Hi Ash - From Sorrento you take the Sita bus to Positano.

An alternative if you prefer to arrive by sea is to take the train to Salerno - from where there is a ferry service from SALERNO to Amalfi/Positano.

There are currently departures from Salerno (- Piazza della Concordia jetty) at:

08.40 - 09:40 - 10.40 - 11.40 - 14.10 - 15.30

Journey time: 70 mins. Fare: € 8.00

The dock at Salerno (- Piazza della Concordia jetty) is about 3 blocks/ 5 mins walk from the railway station ...

If you are travelling from Rome there are direct ES/IC trains to Salerno.

Yeah now that you mention about ferry, so could i then take a train from napoli centrale to salerno, then change to a ferry? Or will it be faster to take a train to sorrento and change to a ferry to Amalfi?

If you are going to Positano, I think that the train to Salerno and the ferry will be not much longer than train to Sorrento and the SITA bus (stop is across the street from the train station).

You get very nice views of the cliffs from the water, and you don't get caught in traffic.

Yeah guess that's what i'll do - the
former. By the way, any nice economico restaurants i could visit at Positano/Amalfi, ie. mediterranean cusine? Gosh..really looking forward to this trip!

Super simple to do. Take the train to Sorrento 3.5e. Runs about every 20min. Get off train walk out of station at your left is small tobacco shop selling candy etc. Buy your bus ticket there then walk directly across to street where the bus stop is. Hop on and off you go. When bus gets to Amalfi you can get off and get other bus's to other places or get off as the bus goes down the coast if you choose to do that. Be forewarned it can take a long time if there is a lot of traffic that day.
