I am going with a friend from Rome the middle of April on the train in Naples, Sorrento...We are staying in Ravello at the Parsifal Hotel..Can you help with the train in Naples? The bus from Sorrento to Ravello? Has anyone stayed at the Parsifal? What is the weather like there compared to Toamina in Sicily where we are going after 5 days in Ravello? Thanks from Tn.

From the train station in Naples you must downstairs and go toward train station of Cirmuvesuviana, three minutes walking.
Train for Sorrento are very often in the day: every half an hour.
I have timetable in excel; if you need it, e-mail me.
From Sorrento bus for Amalfi and, asking to the driver for the right bus stop, you change bus and keep a smaller bus going to Ravello.
April has a nice weather: not cold, not hot but, really, it is the month where it rains often.
Have a nice trip.
Hello Mary Lou,

If your destination is Ravello, the quickest route is via SALERNO, not Sorrento.

From Rome you can catch a DIRECT train to Salerno (Eurostar or Intercity), - no need to change train in Naples.

From Salerno you travel via AMALFI to RAVELLO.

For Salerno-Amalfi bus timetables, see:
www.campaniatrasporti.it/sita/5121.htm
Journey time is approx 75 mins.

(There is also a Salerno-Amalfi ferry service, but this may not operate as early as April)

For Amalfi-Ravello bus timetables, see:-
www.uniplan.it/sita/s511_1.txt
Journey time is about 25 mins.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

We to the commuter train from Naples to Sorrento a few years ago.

Our only problem was recognizing which train to take. They didn't seem to be marked and for some reason we had trouble communicating with the locals.

How do you know which train to take?

Mary,
Salerno is better than Naples as Steve suggests.
Be attention, in this period it is better from Sorrento because the road from Salerno to Amalfi is under reconstruction.
Ciao.
