Amalfi and Rome
 

Im looking for opinions/advice. What are some must do/see things in Amalfi and Rome? What are some restaurants that we must go in and not walk by?

Why do you want to go to thee places? Surely you already have a number of things in mind or why would you ant to go. Suggest you check out a couple of guide books and then come back with a draft itinerary so people can comment.

For restaurants - what is your price point and are you looking for typical local cuisines - or the type of Italian food usually served in the US?

Sorry - when are you going and how long will you be here.

And are you alone or who/how many in your group.

Price point does not matter. Yes we do have a few things we would like to do. Just seeing if there are things that we would not want to miss. We are wanting local cuisine. We don't want to eat what we can get at home, we are open to trying new things. We will be spending 4 nights in Amalfi and 3 nights in Rome. Will be traveling with 6 people.

Rome is loaded with amazing things to see. We were there 9 nights and didn't see it all. As far as restaurants, Glass and La Gensola were favorites. Pizza from Roscioli and Forno in Campo dei Fiori are wonderful. Doria Pamphilji was an unexpected gem in Rome.

Amalfi...we did very little! We enjoyed a wine tasting lunch in Tramonti at Tenuta San Francesco was wonderful.

In Amalfi don't miss Andrea Pansa for coffee/tea and pastries! (and gelato and chocolate, but I can only vouch for the coffee and pastries) Super delicious. via Lorenzo D'Amalfi 9.

You can't miss it, it is right beside the steps leading up to the cathedral.

Just a word of advice, in touristy places like Amalfi it costs more to sit outside at a table. If you take a coffee and pastry at the bar inside standing up it will be much cheaper than if you sit outside. We chose to pay more and sit outside so we could people watch and relax. Just telling you because some people don't know and then they are outraged and feel ripped off, it's just the way it is in Italy.

Where in Rome are you staying? One delicious Roman dish to order is cacio e pepe, which is pasta with cheese and black pepper…so good.

In Rome we used Presto Tours which I highly recommend for Vatican and catacombs. Must see the Coliseum & Pompeii.
