alternative to nice

can't find a budget hotel or hostel in nice..does anyone know of another beach area near there that might be in the 50 euro or less range?

I don't know about what budget lodgin choices you might find there, but have you tried Antibes? It actually has some sandy beaches. Nice has none - - only pebbly ones.

Best wishes,

Hotel Amaryllis in Nice may fit your budget. The Price for a double is 63 Euros(without breakfast). Located about 2-3 blocks from the train station. Air conditioned, clean rooms.

Very hard to find anything that cheap during the warmer months on the Cote d'Azur but try the Nice Ibis Centre (63 euros+ next to the main train station on Theirs Blvd or if you have a car the Etap is rock bottom priced at 39-45 euros but is out of town a little.

The Ibis is about 15-20 minutes walk to the beaches and is very nice and modern.

Also you can find cheap hotels farther east in Menton. You will find a great beach there as well and Monte Carlo is only a few minutes away by train.

There was I thinking of all kinds of words that would be classed as an alternative to nice - lovely, great, marvellous, fabulous, super, brilliant, pleasant, enjoyable, pretty etc etc

But then I opened up and found that you were referring to Nice, the placename that starts with a capital letter...

Why can nobody make the effort to write correctly anymore?
