Alternate places in Paris to buy tickets to Louvre?
If I decide on a whim to visit the Louvre again while in Paris, and the pyramid line is long, is there another ticket counter to go to? I'm not really planning to go this trip, but if some time opens up, where are tickets available then? (not using a Carte Musee this time, either). Thanks!

Alice: You might be able to get tickets at FNAC bookstore at Rue de Rennes close to Montparnasse Tower. I know that they sell tickets for all kind of exhibitions, concerts....
You might also be successful with the Tourist Office on the Champs-Elysées (on left side when walking towards Arc de Triomphe)

Thank you... I checked the online tourist office site, but it still wasn't clear whether they sold tickets or not... I'll check when I pass by there.
I called the tourism office. They indeed sell tickets in advance for the Louvre (and only for the Louvre). They told me it was probably possible to buy them also at the Fnacs (they weren't sure). Apart from the one rue de rennes, there's another FNAC in the Halles (4° arrondissement, close to Pompidou center)

Hi Alice,

You can avoid the line by entering via the Carrousel du Louvre shopping centre (99 rue du Rivoli). I did this last time, and it worked like a charm.

Cheers!

- Quicksilver -

You're right, but you have to already have the ticket.. that's the part I'm trying to beat the line for... :)

Look into buying the museum pass; having it will let you by-pass the long lines and, as a package, is a good deal.
