Alsace Wine Tour
Hello,
My wife and I, are arriving in Paris on 11th August and in Strasbourg on 24th August and then leaving for Germany on 27th August. We would like to do a 2 - day wine tour by Van covering Ribeauville, Haut Koenigsburg and Riquewihr and Eguisheim. Can you please give us an estimate for the whole trip picking us up from our hotel in Strasbourg and dropping us back at the end of the tour. We are mainly interested in Alsace Wines. Thanks for your quick advice as we will be flying from San Francisco next week.

This is a follow up to my previous post. We signed up with OPHORUS a local tour company for the full day wine tour. Nancy and Claire drove us around the nicest parts of Alsace Wine Trail and we sampled 4 local wineries. The wines were terrific and we bought quite a few of the Gewurtzraminer and other Alsacian wines. They also told us about the history of the area which had changed hands numerous times between France and Germany so that the people spoke both languages and the food and culture was a fine blend.
The next day, we walked around Strassbourg exploring it for ourselves the best way to experience this beautiful city especially Petite France which was truly delightful. We sampled the food, wine, and took in the beautiful architecture and sights with dozens of photos. Definitely worth a full day. The next day we took the TGV to north Germany to my wife's home town Bremen.
So we embarked on this expedition with some trepidation but experienced a delightful vacation - thoroughly recommended.

I have just completed a comprehensive update of our vacation in Alsace. BTW the region is also known as Elsace-Lotringen in German and lies on the border between France and Germany. In a nutshell, it is perhaps the best vacation we have spent in France after having spent a lovely romantic time for the 10th time in Paris. Unfortunately most Americans think that Paris is the only place in France worth visiting but much as I like Paris, there are many more places in France worth visiting such as Alsace, Bordeaux, Marseille, Lyon, San Tropez,....
