Alsace wine route question
 

Hello - my husband and I are going to France for 12 days in October. We're spending the majority of time in Paris, but would like to spend 2 or 3 days in Alsace, checking out the wine route. We're both avid hikers/walkers and were wondering if it's possible to walk part of the wine route, between villages? If so, where would be a good place to base ourselves?

One more question- anyone have experience hiking the Vosges mountains in the area? Thank you!

This suggests that you will use public trnsporttion to get TO village A... and onward FROM village B? And not have a car?

I can't recommend that from personal experience. You would do better to have a car.

But you can hike a plenty, if you mean simply walking along the highway. Base in St. Hippolyte or Riquwihr or Ribeauville.

Make a circle hike, perhaps? Or hike up to Chateau de Haut Koeningsbourg. That will work you out!

and it is a very popular area for all
'types' of walkers - from cradle to
