I used Edge just now. I get the same two pages view, full screen, that cannot be enlarged to see the detail on the pages with multiple small pictures. I have always looked forward to to seeing your photos. This presentation is not helpful. It would be OK if there were only one photo per page. Even better would be only one page on the screen rather than two side by side. What happened to the any port in a storm site?

I think that was Kerouac's site. I had a Shutterfly site that was similar, but Shutterfly discontinued that function 2 weeks ago because they received zero revenue from it They only sell books and other similar stuff (like aprons & coffee mugs with pictures on them). People were using (mis-using, in Shutterfly's opinion) the site for purposes like a homeowner's associations using it as a method to distribute their monthly newsletter. Sorry. I was using Shutterfly because my wife used it to build the books, and she "tweeked" it a bit to use the method Shutterfly had to "share" a book via (e-mail) with another person. Seems it's not 100% satisfactory. I have a wide PC screen, and 2 pages of the book entirely fill the width of the screen - with only a 1/8th inch space for the > and < page turners. And I can make the 2 pages smaller & larger with the ctrl + and - (making it + when it already fills the screen produces garbage). Stu Dudley |
Looks like beggars want to be choosers! :-)

Merci beaucoup, Stu. The photos are beautiful.

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing these great, great photos with us. I also liked seeing the 'backside' photo. Goes to prove just how old these buildings are. And how much effort it takes to preserve them. I hadn't heard of the eco-musee before, so thanks for that. I always get a lot out of these skansen, so it's good to know about it.
Do you have a Top Five tastes (of food) from your trip? Could be in a restaurant, but also might include from an any sort of shop or gites or..... anywhere. Also, do you have a favorite village or villages? Or is that like saying which child you prefer? |
""Also, do you have a favorite village or villages?""
The Standards: Riquewihr Kaysersberg Ribeauville Eguisheim Liked Barr too Somewhat disappointed with Obernai. It is rated 2 stars in Michelin - but we preferred the towns above. We dined at some fabulous restaurants. Our favorite was the same restaurant that was our favorite 17 years ago then we were there for a week. Details tomorrow, when I can dig up my notes. Thank you so much for the excellent captioning in the album. Too often we get well intentioned photo dumps, but with no perspective on what is seen. My albums are heavily captioned - they become the trip report - and I use the less artistic Google Photos approach: only one photo per album page, and so much less artistic than yours but the ability to create long captions (maybe 500 characters? Can't quite remember), So, here's my version of the same region in a trip almost 4 years ago: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...raine-1673277/. To each their own, and am glad to see multiple approaches to presenting all the wonderful things France has to offer the visitor.

This was our 4th attempt at a vacation in Alsace & Burgundy. The prior 3 were cancelled because of my father in law's stroke, and 2 years of Covid. The Michelin star rating follows the name/town of the restaurant (0 to 3 stars), and the number following the restaurant is our rating, followed by the coast (2 people, aperitif and bottle of wine). - Au Vieux in Rhinau* 9 $233 - Auberge Frankenbourg* in La Vancelle 7 $204 - La Nouvelle Auberge* in Wihr au Val 6 $190 - 1741 in Strasbourg* 8 $363 - le Cerf in Marlenheim* 7 $240 - JYs in Colmar** 8 $384 - Maximilien in Zellenberg* 9 $211 this was also our favorite on our prior trip - la Forchette des Ducs** in Obernai 8 $500 Stu Dudley So we splurged |
Shutterfly is a product for producing books. Not for screen displays. The Sutterfly book we have for Alsace is 14X11 inches. So each page is 14 inches wide. My Dell screen is 14 1/2 inches wide, and 1 page of the Alsace book is 6 1/2 inches (2 pages/screen). So pages in the book are a little over twice the size of screen display pages. If your screen is smaller than 14 1/2 " - your images will be even smaller.
Semi. My wife says that Shutterfly has no limit on the amount of text in a caption. She has one book where text takes up 2 full pages. If you have a Shutterfly account, you could "save" the book into your account, and Shutterfly has a method to enlarge any section of the page to meet your needs. She uses this function to align pictures. Stu Dudley |
Hi Stu,
Please tell Mrs Stu that we said, 'Take a Bow!' I am done. the admiration |
Stu, your pics look like they are from a story book!! I can't wait to get there.
Thanks. |
Stu, I posted on your Alsace page. I can see the full screen only on my desktop, not on the IPad. I don’t even see anywhere to click for full screen on the IPad. You said you wanted feedback from readers.

Sorry, meant your post on Tuscany!

Stu,
Thank you so much for sharing wonderful memories, I am leaving for Burgundy at the end of May, will look around for your suggetions and will try to post questions. "This was our 4th attempt at a vacation in Alsace & Burgundy". Was it Alsace & Burgundy trip? TIA |
Stu, Many thanks for posting this beautiful book. We usually put together books from our trips but are way behind. We were in this region in 2018 and have still not done our book. I may use yours

There are 550 "hits" to this post so far. I wish I knew how many people are having trouble viewing this book. I found out that many of my books that are older than about 2015 are too old to display here. But I have about a dozen or so that are OK - including about 3 on Brittany.

Stu - have you created a TR for your Alsace trip? We will be in the area in December & would love your thoughts. Thanks.
|
Thanks for sharing your photo book Stu. I had no problems seeing it. Do you have a write up of this region? We will be going there in September. I have used many of your write ups in the past. Loved the one from Tuscany!

Recently, there have been several people planning trips to Alsace. My wife just completed her Shutterfly book from our 2022 two-week vacation there this past September. This was our 4th attempt at this vacation - 3 prior ones were cancelled by her father's stroke, and 2 years of Covid.
https://www.shutterfly.com/share-pro...HARPRDWEBMPREM Click on the book image, and then click "Full Screen" in the upper-right corner on the next screen. This is a new method to display her 30 or so books of vacation pictures. The method I used in the past was "discontinued" by Shutterfly. If this works, I'll post her Loire books . Stu Dudley |
