You have all given me excellent things to things about. St. Cirq, I would have to agree with your centiments regarding at least some of the wines of the Alscace region, like the Reislings & Gwertzminers, that they do not make you think of France but more of Germany. As I was researching the area and found these were Alsatian wines I was a bit suprised, although pleasantly as my husband and I enjoy these wines. My husband especially enjoys the Gwertzminer.

You know I've always thought that if I went to France I would go to the "wine regions" and in my mind that meant the Burgandy area and here I'm not even considering it. The more I've looked into each region of France, the more I see that each region is unique unto itself and entices one to explore it, obviously some more than others.

The part of Normandy that appeals to me really does not have much to do with WWII at all, but as I've previously stated the increadible richness of history prior to it. This has been a wonderful exchange, and I thank all of you for your input.

Hi there. I think you should go to Alsace becuase it has maening for you which will add to the trip and give you a theme. It's really lovely w/ much interest! i love the food, wine, people, architecture, countryside! I adore Normandy, too, but why don't you go another time and even consider 2004 for the 60th anniv. of D Day?
