Alps - Snow Update?

Though not a winter sports freak i'm intrigued by the lack of snow at even higher Alpine resorts this winter and wonder what the current conditions are. The post-Christmas weeks usually launch high season in Alpine resorts - but is there snow at lower climes like Kitzbuhel - global warming may come home earlier than we thought?

Is there a site that gives weather conditions and snow depths at Alpine resorts?

Just curious.

Most British newspapers have snow reports, but they don't include all the resorts. The Ski Club of Great Britain has a good website: http://www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/reports/default.asp. You will have to register as a user, but it is free.

Your post reminds me of when I first moved to England back in the 60s, and bought a ski holiday to Kitzbuhel with a British package holiday company. I turned up at the airport with skis, boots, etc. When I got to the check-in counter, the clerk said "You have skis?" I replied "Of course I have skis. I'm going on a ski trip." She answered "You should have told us you were bringing skis. I don't know if you can take them with you. That will put you over the weight allowance." After some discussion I was finally allowed to check in my skis. Apparently in those days few British skiers owned their own equipment - they rented when they arrived at the resort.

tell it to the guesthouse owners and legions of businesses dependant for this busy season - don't worry winter's just started and you could be out of business before it's half over.

Global warming gets blamed for everything. They were skiing in April 2 years ago in Germany. Ask Denver about global warming.

Bob Ky - perhaps you don't fully understand the ramifications of global warming... things like storms are much more likely, thus Denver could well have been a victim of global warming in its recent avalanche - extremes are much more likely. Do some research as it seems you are doubtful of global warming which every academic practically accepts as passe and now only debates is it too late to do anything about it. Even Gatewood Galbraithe i thinks accepts it!

You might be right. I have no idea. I suspect most people talking about it have no idea. My point was that it is a self - fulfilling prophecy - hot in 1 part of the world - global warming! colder in another part - global warming! burnt my toast this morning - global warming! I actually had a client of mine who went to the outer banks this year - before they disappear forever. Fear the Man-Bear-Pig! (nod to SouthPark)
