Alone and pregnant in Paris - need advice on a decent hotel for one night

Hello,

My lovely husband has promised me for my birthday, my annual "break" of one night in Paris, alone, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on a good place to stay (we live in Zurich, so one night is very "do-able" - and when I say "break" I mean a little respite from our beloved two year old daughter!).

Since I plan to hit the department stores, as 24 hours gives me time to do little else, I was figuring on staying in the Opera district for convenience, or the Marais district for that little extta charm.

Obviously, given that I will be 5 months pregnant when I go in October, good quality sleep, food and a lift that works are prime considerations.

I have done some research and come up with the following possibilities: the Britannique, the Queen Mary, the Bretonerrie and the Hotel Mansart. Does anyone know of these hotels, are they any good, and can you offer any other hints, advice, tips?

Thanks for your help,

Steph.

Steph,

The Bretonnerie is nice, I stayed there three yaers ago, and the location is handy, too. There're brasseries close by, and even some boutiques.

In the Opera district, I just know Hotel La Madrid, and Hotel Tronchet. They are both nice, de la madrid is close to Bv. Montmartre, and Tronchet is closer to the Opera, but I don't recall the street.

Good luck,

Surlok

Thanks, Surlok, I hadn't heard of the other hotels you mention, but I will check those out.

Steph,

One web site that shoes the Tronchet is:

http://www.webscapades.com/france/paris/tronchet.htm

another one is:

http://www.123france.com/europe/fran...onch.htm#promo

I didn't find a web site for the Hotel le Madrid. I stayed there 11 years ago, and it's a simple, 2 stars hotel, although there's an elevator. The Tronchet is much better, and more convenient to the Galleries Laffayete, Primtemps.
