AnthonyGA: but in French it is "musee d'Orsay", n'est-ce pas?
|
It is indeed, but it's also "Musée du Louvre" in French, even though nobody says "I'm going to the Du Louvre." Just as nobody in New York says "I'm going to see the Of Liberty."

Gee, I wish I had found this thread before all the other research I did! Note to self: Check Fodors forums first!
so, I believe the Navigo Découverte is best for my needs. My question is (and I probably can also find this online but you people are so much easier!) would I also be able to get this at the RATP desk at CDG? Also, I guess I am assuming there is an RATP desk at CDG, I guess I have to look that up too! |
I just got a Navigo Decourvert today. Boy was I excited. So easy now to hop on and off the bus. However, the first two times I used it, it worked great and then third time the reader showed a big X and a loud buzz. How do I get it fixed. Do I have to go down into a metro station? The reason I'm taking the bus is because I have a bum leg and wanted to avoid the stairs in the metro. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

YOu are sure you were using a bus within the zones you bought and that the pass is still good for the dates you want? I guess it would have to be if you bought it Monday as that is when it starts. But it was within the zones you purchased?
YOu do have to go to an RATP office or affiliate to get service on a card that doesn't work. My best recommendation as I don't know of others, but go to Gare Montparnasse as the office there is on ground level that you need (the Club RATP or where the Transilien ticket office is, which is just off place Raoul Dautry on level 0). see http://www.transilien.com/web/site/a...-montparnasse/ |
Thanks, Christina. I held my breath and tried it the next day and it worked. There is a little arrow next to the chip and perhaps I did not run it in the correct direction. I had seen others just stick their purse up to the magic reader eye....without even removing the card from the purse. That did not work for me.
I now have the wings I need to get around Paris. Thank you again for your thorough response. |

a question, tagging onto this thread- can we buy a navigo decouverte upon arrival at CDG? Am planning to have photos with us.

y, but maybe otherwise just small museums which may not be covered. Any ideas, anyone?>
municipal museums are I believe still free. Sundays many museums charge up to 50% off - the Louvre is free the first Sunday of the month I believe. But with a Museum Pass I find myself having gone to some sweet museums I knew little about and never would have paid the entrance fee but loved it when in - like the Arts-et-Metiers, with all those old inventions like one of Faucault's Pendulums swinging in the old church part. |
Can children get a Navigo - age 8 and 12. They would love it for a souvenir.
