Alitalia fares

Has anyone had any luck with the Alitalia $543 fares to Rome shown on Kayak? I have tried several times and when I'm sent to Alitalia to book the fare it is about twice what Kayak says it will be.(still)
Thanks,
Dupher

Those were a serious mistake on the part of Alitalia, as they were business class fares for much less than the price of an economy class fare. A $500 business fare for a transatlantic flight obviously is a bit amiss. A few people booking hours ago reported on FlyerTalk that they obtained these fares. My conclusion, after trying a few booking engines, is that these fares are now gone for good.

I got my step-daughter and her family $539 fares JFK-FCO for Christmas on Alitalia about 3 weeks ago. Economy class/RT

Why would anybody fly this airline?!

I don't think AZ is that bad an airline for the passenger, unless some unions are on strike.

It's just that nobody wants to OWN the airline. ;)
