I guess I won't be going to the automatic machine. I just tried to book tickets and this is what popped up:

"The tickets bought with a card that was not issued in Spain can only be collected in the ticket office at the venue, where you should present the card you used to make your purchase and an official identity document."

Is this the same line for purchasing tickets?

Sashie~

If you buy your tickets online, you get a receipt after you pay. This print out is NOT your ticket.

As the message you received says, you still must go to the ticket office and swipe your credit card (same one used in the ticket purchse) in the machine and it will spit out your tickets.

That make sense?

I understand that message as saying she must present her photo ID in person at ticket WINDOW along with same card.. not go to a machine.

Perhaps there are different windows.. some for "recoger entradas" others to BUY entradas.??

Good luck.

Yes lincasnova - that's what I think. Hopefully there are different windows

thanks

SashieZ,

I got the same message when I purchased my Alhambra ticket. If I remember correctly, everyone who does not use a Spanish credit card to purchase on-line tickets gets that message. That's why you have to swipe your card on one of the machines on the day of your visit (or the evening before your visit) in order to get your real ticket.

When I got to the ticket office on the day of entry, I did not have to go to the ticket window and buy it from a human being. I had to swipe my credit card (the one I used to buy the ticket on-line) from one of the machines.

www.maribelsguides.com has more info on how to pick up your ticket, as well as a huge amount of info on Granada and the Alhambra (not to mention, the rest of Spain, too.)

Thanks Shanti, that was helpful.

I love this forum

There is one line to buy tickets and another line if you purchased your tickets from US with a credit card. First, you have a better choice of time. Second, the line to get your prepurchased tickets move quickly. When I got mine, one person was on line ahead of me. The room is maned with a person who quickly shows you what to do. You just swipe your credit card and the ticket pops out. That's why the prepurchased line moves so quickly. I don't think I even showed ID. I would definitely purchase fro US with a credit card.
