Alhambra Tickets
 

Hello folks,

I hope all is going well with everyone. I just purchased tickets to the Alhambra via internet. I am slightly confused on the process of picking up tix. I have a locator number, do I take this to a BBVA branch, or proceed to an Alhambra ticket office to claim the tix? Thank you.

You go straight to the special advance purchase ticket window at the Alhambra entrance, and you have to show the locator number and your ID and I think the same credit card that you charged the tickets to.

Could be wrong but I beleive it is a bank that acts as a ticket agency for the Alhambra.

As a precaution, double-check the time on your ticket locater - making sure it's within the time you requested (morning or afternoon ticket).

We just returned from Granada and had quite a problem with our tickets. We had been told that once inside the grounds, you could stay as long as you wanted regardless of the time of your ticket. This was not the case. So, make sure that the timeframe of your ticket covers the time you wish to be there. (hope this makes sense!)

Twilight - I think you should clarify. The time on your ticket is the time you have to go to the Nashrid Palace, one part of the Alhambra where they limit access to a certain number of people.

As long as you do that at the right time, you should be fine. When I was there last month, my time said "8:30". We went to the Alhambra at 8am, picked up the tickets walked to Nashrid Palace, saw that, and then walked around the rest of Alhambra most of the day.

No one ever said we had to leave or anything, so I'm not sure what you mean.

Turbokid - the advance ticket window works just like "will call" here in the US. Just to the entrance and you'll find the line you need.

I started the process of buying our tickets online, but the server did not appear to be secure. This was through the BBVA. Anyone know of secure online options, or should we call to purchase?

Time clarification: it's true that the time on your ticket indicates the time that you can get into the Palace, but it also indicates whether or not your ticket for the grounds are either for the morning (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or for the afternoon (after 2 p.m.).

When we were there last week, they checked tickets not only at the Palace entrance, but also at other locations on the grounds. If your ticket did not correspond to the time frame, people were asked to leave.

The Alhambra is a magnificent site, but the rules are quite strict about entering, etc. Now, this may have been because we were there the day after the Madrid bombings - don't know.

Either way, leave yourself plenty of time before (or after, depending on the time) your visit to the palace to explore the grounds and gardens.

I read somewhere that tickets can be purchased anywhere in Spain at a branch of the BBVA. This will save having to que up to the special pick-up ticket window. This line as well as the purchase ticket line can be long. Can anyone confirm if actual tickets and not a "will pick-up voucher" can be purchased in a BBVA branch?

Does this mean if you have a ticket for entrance say at 10am...that they might ask you to leave after 2pm? And only have 4 hrs. there?
