Alhambra problem/question

I thought I was being paranoid booking my Alhambra tickets before my plane tickets...but then I went to try to book them, and BOTH the days I had chosen come up as entirely sold out all day! And this is in late September - 8 months away! Is this really possible? Is there any way I can get tickets except through the official site (alhambratickets.com) that would be legit? I am totally panicking - seeing the Alhambra was the main reason we were going to Andalusia.

Hi:
Answering your question, first of all, I think right now something wrong is happening with the web of alhambra tickets, I am trying to get into it and I can,t from here in Spain.
Second, you can be calm because I think there is a mistake, it is imposible that there won,t be tickets in September 2007, it is not any special date and the Alhambra sends everyday thousand of tickets.
There aren,t other places to buy your tickets online, only in alhambratickets which is managed by BBVA Bank.
The only thing you can do is buying the ticket already in the monument but I think you won,t be worried until that day or someone here in Spain can buy them for you in the bank directly.

You can call and you will get a number which you give at the booking office at the entrance of the monument and they will give you the tickets.

You have here more information about the Alhambra tickets, timetables and more.....

I know it seems to be really difficult but when you are there, believe me,it is very easy.
I went to visit Granada and La Alhambra in 2006 and it is worthwhile.

If you have more doubts please tell me, I am not here everyday but I will answer as soon as possible.Regards.

You might try this Web site:

Are you sure it's sold out? Some sites and museums in Italy will only sell tickets about two months in advance; perhaps it's the same here.

it is me again, I have just visited the web again and now it works .I have been seeing different days in September and there isn,t any problem, there is availability.
If you want, tell me the days you want the tickets and I look if,there are problems to book from here.

You can buy the tickets even one year before the date you want to visit the monument.Regards.

It still isn't working for me...it does make more sense that it wouldn't really be sold out; that is so far away. I will keep trying.

lotusblossom,
In Italy, we had our hotel book tickets to various museums for us. Can your hotel do this?

What kind of navigator have yoy got+++ I mean, I have Internet Explorer and Opera who is another one.Well, from the Opera navigator the web doesn,t let me go in but i can do everything perfectly with the Explorer.Maybe it is something like that I don,t know.

I had the same thing happen, booking in December for May. But then, my dates changed by 2 weeks and one room became available. Is there any chance of changing your travel dates? I, too, was shocked as I assume that 6 months would be enough of a lead in.

Thank you all for your help. I'm going to call the phone number they list for purchasing tickets electronically to see if it's really sold out on those dates...if so, we will have to rework everything (and maybe not go this year) - unfortunately there is a small window of time (about 4 different weeks) that we can go to Spain where plane tickets will be affordable for us and it won't infringe on my sister's wedding. :(

We had no problem buying tickets at the Tourist Office in Granada the day before we went, despite it being Easter, a very busy time [2002].

Lotus Blossom,
Don't change anything yet. Are you staying at a hotel? If so, please ask them if they can arrange for tickets. Hotels frequently do this kind of thing and can often manage tickets when they're unavailable any other way.

If I am staying at the parador in the Alhambra, do I need to buy tickets also?

kenderina Jan 29th, 2007 07:15 AM

JP, sure you have to buy tickets :)
The Parador is a Hotel, not the Palace itself !!

Graziella5b Jan 29th, 2007 07:19 AM

The Parador can buy the tickets for you. Since you are having difficulties seems the best way to go.

hi,
I was having the same problem, e-mailed the hotel in Granada and they got tickets for us ( for night and day visits)
They will chage you for the service, but ....
