Alhambra at night

visiting the Alhambra this fall - doing a day tour but am thinking about visiting at night. There are two night tickets - one to the gardens and one to the palace , both with "special illumination". My day tour is of the entire complex, including the gardens. Has anyone done the night visit - the moon will be at half. Definitely doing the garden at night but not sure about the palace. Thoughts?

I thought the palace was magical at night! The gardens weren't open at night when I was there, so I didn't have to make a choice.

Don't miss the night. It is beautiful. I did the night and the next day and I was so happy I saw it in both settings.
And if you ever go to Bath in the UK see the Roman baths at night.

I'll differ here. The night tour was fine, but we'd already done the day tour where you can actually see a lot more because it is daytime and everything is more visible. I know if we had to do it over again, we wouldn't have stayed for the night tour.

I also agree that the night tour was less enjoyable than the day tour. No where near as much is open, the lighting is "atmospheric" but that means you can't see all that much. Some people claim you get a better feeling since it's less crowded but they only allow a certain number of people in the palace at a time even in the day time so you are essentially with the same number of people around you anyway. I loved it in the day time. The night visit was "ok". If you have the time I wouldn't not do the night visit, but I would definitely advise against doing it instead of a day visit.
