Algarve Town Selection
Hello all.
A friend and I are interested in visiting Algarve next summer. This would be our first trip to this region and I'm hoping to gain insight from other travelers. The main goal will be to relax on beaches that have a fun scene (food, drinks, people-watching, umbrellas to rent, bars/restaurants nearby, etc). We are not looking for a 24/7 rave party but we want to be in an active area.
I've read that Albufeira has a good mixed of night life ("the strip") and an active beautiful beach area, as well as a quieter Old Town area. Can anyone confirm that is true, and that it would be possible to stay in a quieter area but walked to the more active parts of towns and beaches?
We want to go when it is hot. I'm been plenty of places with "lots of tourists" and we get along well with others (as well as know how to get off the beaten path) so I'm not too concerned about the busy season. If you've been during the summer months (June-August), please let me know how the weather was and if the crowds were enjoyable, festive, annoying, etc. Any thoughts on best time to go to obtain great weather and slightly less than peak crowds?
Lastly, experiences/opinions on other towns would be appreciated. I read that Lagos is a lot of fun, with an active scene, so please share any info on it and other Algarve towns.
Thank you for your help.

Hi.
We went Lagos last summer july. 2016, it was really hot.
make sure to get a place with AC.Loagos is really nice a lot of nice beaches quit and buetiful town. we get a chance to to Albufeira but we are going back next summer Aug. 2018 this time we booked a place in Albufeira in Old town. You can drive to Lagos from Albufeira 45min. Albufeira has more night life, my choice would be Albufeira and drive to Lagos.
Good luck
