im going to spend a day in ALGARVE in my way to SEVILLE .can you recommend me a place to go ?LAGOS or ALBUFEIRA ???FARO maybe?

You didn't mention your age but Albuferia is great for partying!

Hello. I have to agree with the previous post, but let me give you a few more hints.<BR>Faro is very little interesting. It's a city, not very big, but still is a city rather modern, with no beach, and very few interesting things to see.<BR>Albufeira has lots of entretainment, but If I could choose, I would go for Lagos, because it also has a great night life, and places to have fun, there is a beach very near, and it's further away from Seville, what would give you the chance at least to see a bit more, while in route for Seville.<BR>If you choose Lagos, and you need any tip, or got any question, you can either put here, or use my web page to get some answers or ask more.<BR>www.tourist-in-portugal.web.pt<BR><BR>Have fun

To "M" and Laura, and anyone else who has been to Albufeira: My husband and I just got a week at Cerro Alagoa (and RCI exchange resort) in Albufeira for a graduation gift. Has anyone been there? Is it a dive?<BR><BR>We have 2 weeks after that to backpack (we're poor). What does Albufeira have to offer besides a beach and nightlife? Though those things appeal to us, we can experience them at home. What about historical sights, activities (bicycling, etc)? Is Albufeira a place we can take day trips from to visit other places? Just got back from the Algarve.<BR><BR>Didn´t stop at Albufeira, but I passed by it on the highway. I know it´s got great beaches and restaurants.<BR><BR>Also, the road system is very good and you can get all over the Algarve real easy and fast. I recomend the Sagres and Cabo San Vicente area. <BR><BR>When in Sagres, at the main intersection, follow the signs to the Mareta beach, between the Point where the Pousada de Infante is and the one where the Fortaleza de Sagres is.<BR><BR>There is a very nice beach there with a couple of restaurants. We ate at the Raposo, great value, right on the beach, nice terrace for drinks. <BR> <BR>Between Sagres and Cape St. Vicente, stop at the Fortaleza de Beliche, great restaurant or just to have a drink and see the beautiful view. It´s an olf fortress converted into a restaurant.<BR><BR>Also, you can go inland to visit the towns of Loul&eacute; and Silves and even the Sierra de Monchique mountain area, everybody says it´s very nice.<BR><BR>Enjoy your trip!

Which place would you recommend we stop for 1 night between Cascais and Portimao? Preferably right on the beach! WE are also planning to stay at the Viking Hotel - any reviews on that?

I just stayed at the Viking, actually in their selfcatering apartments, but the Hotel is very nice. It´s a little boring at the Hotel´s bar because of the average age -about 60- but the live music we saw was pretty good.<BR>Beautiful pool. <BR>You can read more in my post of a few days ago.
