Thin, I've seen pictures of the tomb, and thought incredibly beautiful, all those Angels!

What a story!

Hi Wrenwood, yes, you will probably be alright in Evora in March (we were there in June, very hot) definitely eat in Tasquina De Oliveres - one of the best meals we had in Portugal and so much fun. I'll look for the name of the Italian Restaurant, it may be in one of our trip reports. Don't give up on the Pousadas, they are beautiful - I would just stay in one in one of the less touristy towns and you will probably have a great experience. Guimarres is supposed to be lovely, though we never made it there.

and yes, the stone circles, megaliths were quite easy to find and truly a highpoint for us. so magical to wander down a little path in a farmers field and suddenly find yourself amidst 90 standing stones from thousands of years ago! have a wonderful time.

We were in. Evora late May and it was not crowded at all. I second the restaurant recommendation of Tasquina des Oliveras. We had a great meal there. I got quite into the megaliths and we went on many a wild goose chase trying to find some, but the ones near Evora were nicely signed so you shouldn't have any problems.
guimares was fabulous. We tried to get into the pousada outside of town, but it was booked. I think in March you may find that once you arrive you will have a nice selection of rooms from which to choose. That said we found some lovely and interesting places to stay throughout Portugal, some pousadas definitely aren't the only game in town,

Nice pictures of Portugal tower.

I like the one, "Belem Tower by Tower."

Here is the restaurant segment of our trip report - hope it is helpful. I did the trip reports in segments based on part of the country so feel free to check them out if that is helpful.

Will definitely check out Tasquina des Olivera, thanks! We are staying at Albergaria do Calvario which looks lovely (and where I could choose our rooms!)

In Evora we also hope to do a walking tour with Libânio Murteira Reis, and maybe the Cromlech of Almendres and Escoural Cave

lauramsgarden the restaurant reviews also helped as Xapuri is only about a 6 minute walk from our apartment in Lisbon!

yestravel I have had no luck booking at Dom Dinis in Marvao. The only way they seem to have to contact them is through their website, when I send it, it says "successful" and I get the copy that I have sent to myself. There are recent reviews on TA so I know they are open. How did you contact them?

I booked Dom Dinis through booking.com. I picked the room with the terrace.
