Alberio Astaria Wine Shope Owner in Sorrento, Italy

Does anyone have information about this gentleman? He used to conduct "small" wine food and wine tours in Massa Lubrense, (Sorrento) Italy. His old website was www.soledisorrento.com, which is not up and running currently.

I would like to contact him, if he is still conducting tours.

I think the name is AstariTa, with two Ts. There are no Astarias but a number of Astaritas in Sorrento and Massa Lubrense listed in the Italian White Pages. None of them is an Alberio, and none seem to conduct tours.

There seem to be a number of wine and food tours of the area..I found a few names witha Google search. But maybe we can also help you put together your own tour..are you interested more in wine, or food products, or both?

ekscrunchy, I think the link you gave me is the guy. The information I have is old.

It goes like this: "he took us to a local olive grove and olive oil company called Gargiulo, where a delightful young woman, who is the fifth-generation olive oil producer in that family, gave us a tour and an olive oil tasting. Thier organic oil and their lemon and orange-infused oils are excellent.

Then we went up into the hills around Massa Lubrense, where we visited an artisanal limoncello factory and a small restaurant (can't remember the name). It is run by friends of his, and the amazing food and wine just kept coming.

He has a marvelous selection of wines and liquores in his shop, and is very helpful."

I guess I'm kind of hooked on the story. I'll try to track him down (Alberio Astarita) when we are in Sorrento.

Thank you Baudolino and ekscrunchy.

Good..let us know what you turn up.

If you go on your own, here is one place that you could taste olive oil; they have a well-regarded restaurant, too.

And this agriturismo/restaurant produces limoncello and a vast range of other food/drink items; also listed in the SlowFood guide:
