Albergo Del Senato or The Raphael ???

Would like to get some recent feedback on these two hotels.
I am ready to book, but can't decide. Any suggestions ? Thanks

Stayed at del Senato last October. Loved the hotel and great staff. Great location. Room very clean. Our room was at the front of hotel and overlooked the Pantheon and the square. Even so the windows blocked all noise from the square, so the room was very quiet when needed. Rooftop bar was great, but is open only if weather / temperature permits. Wifi in the rooms was weak, but public areas were better. Breakfast was very good.

Have no experience with your other choice.

I can only reply about the Senato, and it is wonderful. We just returned from 6 days there in August, and loved everything about the hotel. Surprisingly luxurious in a fantastic location; you won't be disappointed.

I stayed for the third or fourth ( can't remember!) time at The Senato in June. And we will go back! Love the hotel for its location and staff. We stayed in The Seminario Suite which has no view, but an incredible hand painted fresco ceiling with angels etc. (!) that was rediscovered during the hotel's renovation.

The hotel itself is wonderful. We walked everywhere ( Colosseum, Vatican, Trevi, Spanish Steps) easily. And there are many lovely trattorias ( Armando Al Pantheon especially!) within a few steps of the hotel.

If you're visiting in the summer months, check out the rooftop bar. Mariano, the bartender, is hilarious and charming, and makes the best bellinis I've ever tasted. The views of Rome are gorgeous!

The only downside I can think of is that the hotel is next to a fabulous gelato shop. Well that, and the WIFI as mentioned above, goes in and out.

Have fun!

The only problem with the Del Senato is that we all like it so much on this board, it's often totally booked (as for MY dates this year--darn)

I agree with everyone. Just got back from Italy and we stayed in the Senato for 4 nights. I would have no hesitation staying there again. We walked everywhere and there are load of great restaurants in the area. The rooms are on the smallish side but very well appointment with proper showers and the staff was excellent.

I've stayed at Del Senato and rented an apartment three doors down from the Raphael. I think the Raphael is a more upscale hotel but it would be hard (impossible) to beat the view rooms at Del Senato. Both locations are central/quite near to each other.

Stayed at the Raphael last Fall and loved it. The A/C worked great and i am glad I splurged on a really nice hotel in Rome. Location is also wonderful , as is the breakfast.
