Albergo Del Senato
I have seen their website for the gorgeous suites, but how are their regular doubles? Anybody stay in a regular double room? Are they just as nice? I was quoted 195 euros for a double.
|
There was a fairly long and acrimonious thread about this a year ago or more. The upshot of it was that the regular rooms in the Albergo del Senato are small to very small.

If you stay at the Albergo Del Senato make sure to get a Pantheon view room. With that incredible view out our windows, we didn't care if the room was somewhat small. It's our favorite hotel in Rome.

Hi Ceci how are you? No, not yet. I think I will wait till January as all hotels are busy at this time with Xmas and New Year and maybe then they will have beter rates. I myself have also been so busy during the week, no time for search.
I will let you know as soon as I decide. In the meantime a Merry Christmas to you, Feliz Natal :) |
Tere, I've also perused some hotels' rates in Florence for a family trip in May. I'm in shock. The rates are incredibly high, much higher than I remember have payed four years ago.
Meanwhile, I wish you, and all here, a Merry Christmas, too. Feliz natal, Tere! |
We stayed at Albergo del Senato 11-05-05 to 11-11-05. We requested a twin room as we were told it was larger. The room was perfect. It was on the side of the building, but we could see the Pantheon from our window. Staff was excellent and breakfast was very good. We intend staying again in November 2006. If you write to me at [email protected] I can send you pictures of the room.

Thanks for the suggestion of asking for a view. I didn't think of that. I made reservations at the del Senato. I went to Rome for my honeymoon, I am now returning 23 years later, and I am so excited. When we booked our honeymoon, we used a travel agent who picked our hotels. We didn't do our own research. I remember arriving at our Rome hotel and found it to be very worn lookng, kind of scary and depressing. (like from a Steven King's novel) We couldn't stand staying a minute in that room. After one night we looked around a found a place by the Spanish Steps. It wasn't the Hassler, I remember that, but it was elegant in a very simple way. The room was not fancy, but had lovely white sheets and was very clean. I also remember having to pay a lot of extra money on top of our deposit to stay there. It taught me a valuable lesson not to do my own research. Thanks again for your comments.

Oldmyst, at that time you didn't have internet or much to search for hotels! :)We had to stick with what the travel agents tried to sell us. That also happened to me. Now we can choose, search, ask advice and stay where we want to, fortunately.
Have a great stay in Rome again, it is still beautiful and the Senato will help you make that stay even more memorable. Teresa |
I can't speak for the doubles, but I believe that I stayed in the first floor Jr. Suite. The room was a little small, but fine hardwood floors throughout the suite, and quality bathroom fixtures made the room great dispite a few less square feet. The view of the Pantheon was magical.
Of course, the location is the absolutely wonderful, and the rooftop bar, when open, is a memorable experience. |
My father stayed here with his father a couple of months ago. My dad liked the hotel, but he did mention the rooms were a little small.

We've stayed in a superior double in May for 295 euros per night. It was a small room with a spectacular view of the Pantheon. We are returning the same week of May in 2006 and have a reservation for 315 euros per night. 195 euros seems a bargain to me - when are you going? I love the location, the staff is extremely helpful - this will be our 4th year to Rome.
