If it's true, that pickpocket will dine out on it for years.
Still, it just shows that however many precautions you take, a really skilled operator can succeed if he really wants to.

They showed this on Dutch TV too, and also showed that he was wearing it again when he boarded his plane, so I think he really did just put it in his pocket.

I somehow cannot imagine George knowing about Albania much less that it might have pickpockets.

What he probably should have done is take a bunch of cheap Timex watches and every time one got stolen he could put another one on.

Maybe that's exactly what he did! He could have had on a Secret Service Agent's watch when getting on the plane.
