Airport Transfer - Gatwick & heathrow?
 

In researching airfares for spring, one thing thatkeeps coming up involves going to and from London BUT it also involves changing airports.

Are there dedicated and direct buses (or trains) for this?
Typically how much tinme is involved?
Typically how much money?

This issue comes up frequently and there are some excellent discussions about options, etc. Might suggest you do a search of "Heathrow/Gatwick Transfers" which should help with some answers.

If you're asking about transferring between Heathrow and Gatwick, then yes, there are dedicated buses that transfer passengers between the two airports.

I once missed a flight out of Heathrow, and BA offered me a seat on an alternative flight out of Gatwick and even gave me a coupon that I used to utilize the bus service to Gatwick free of charge!

If you are on a connecting ticket allow 5 hours between landing and take off - if not allow at least 6 hours

Note you will have to collect your luggage at one airport and check it at the other.

Also if you are flying from Gatwick you are only allowed one piece of hand luggage through the security checks - and ONE means ONE, not one plus a purse plus a laptop plus...

there are frequent express buses between LHR and LGW - you need to allow about 5 hours for the transfer. Not for the bus ride - usually about 45 mins to 1+ hour - but for the often lengthly immigration/security at both airports.

mnss' situation was exceptional - you will normally have to pay for the transfer yourself.

I don't understand your question. If you land at Gatwick and London is your final destination, why would you be going to Heathrow!

If you mean you arrive at Gatwick and depart from Heathrow, what's the probllem

You can take the tube, a car service or the Gatwick Express, id you land at Gatwick.

Going to Heathrow , you'd take the tube, car service or the Heathrow Express.

Or Vice versa

I wasn't sure I completely understood your question either. If you're trying to decide whether to land in Gatwick or Heathrow, then you can take high speed trains from either airport into central London.

Heathrow is closer to Central London, as the Heathrow express train takes 15 mins. Gatwick express takes at least twice as long.

I assumed the OP meant connecting <u>through</u> London.

I read it as going from A to B via London

I'm assuming it involves BA as they are the main airline that has a presence at LHR &amp; LGW

The ultimate destination is Milan.
Bergamo or Lugano would be fine but Milan is probably most likely.
