airport taxi
We will be arriving at the airport in Oia from Athens in June. Should we take the bus to Fira and then bus to Oia(is that doable) or take a taxi to Oia? I don't think that there is a bus to Oia? We will be arriving about 2PM. What would be the cost for a cab?
Thanks, Ron |
When you first arrive on Santorini one of you should go outside immediately to see if there is a bus scheduled to come soon. Look for the bus schedule. It will be coming from the village of Monolithos. Or you can ask inside where to find the bus schedule. If there is no bus then hire one of the taxis while the other one waits for the luggage inside at the baggage carousel. The taxi will take you to Fira for about 12 euro and to Oia for about 25 euro. If you want to save money take the taxi into Fira to the bus square and wait for the next bus to Oia. There are buses at least once an hour.

Do you know if the buses from Fira to Oia run as early as 6:30am?

Once the bus is rolling someone will come to your seat to collect your money.

Brotherleelove,
Since you are a wealth of knowledge, I thought I would tag onto this question. I was surprised that taxi to Oia was not more. We plan on taking excursion from Naxos to Santorini in a few weeks such for the day. Do you have any recommendations for excursion from Naxos or sight-seeing on Santorini. I would like a relaxing but not expensive day on Santorini. Is the taxi the best choice? |

The excursion from Naxos arrives at Santorini about 10:30 AM, you have to be back on the boat about 4:30, thus about 6 hours. The excursion includes a bus picks u up at the port and drives you up to Fira... I believe that it also takes you to Oia and back. If I were you I would e-mail the excursion company and inquire about the Oia transport specifically -- here is the link it has a contact form where u can ask questions: http://www.thenaxosguide.com/detail_...p;od=santorini After that, the excursion bus takes u down to the port for the boat. THus you probably will not have time for a taxi or a need for one -- especially since the other major site, the ruins of Akrotiri, are closed indefinitely. |
Thank you for the link. I will check into it.
