Airport shuttle or taxi in Paris

Hi all. We'll be arriving at CDG at about noon on a Wednesday and need to travel to our hotel in the 7th. The cheapest shuttle I've found is 48E for 2 adults and a toddler. Would we be better off just going with a taxi?

If it were me with a toddler , who has been cooped up on a plane, I'd go for the taxi for a few more Euro. If you were the only people on the shuttle it would be okay but if there are others to be dropped off first...no way

We arrive on Sept 21 in Paris (CDG) I pre-paid for Paris-shuttle to our hotel in the 4th for 28 Euros total.

We did an inexpensive shuttle when our kids were little we had to call and then the shuttle came, but there was a line of people waiting, then we had to make multiple stops. I would not to it again. With kids I'd either take a private shuttle or a taxi, it's easy.

A taxi might just about the same 48E or only slightly more. Get your trip started stress free and take a cab.

That's what I suspected. Any ideas on how lengthy the line will be at that time of date (noon on a Wednesday)?

Even if there's a line at the taxi stand, it will move very quickly. The drivers are quite efficient at matching parties to vehicles and getting everyone going as quickly as possible.

I'll guess a couple of people, but the length isn't so important as how fast it moves. I've never waited at CDG for a taxi at all, actually.

Hi

We were stuck in choking traffic and it cost us E60. For the return we used Paris Shuttle and it was much cheaper. I do recollect the traffic was flowing better though.

Paris at 8 am on a weekday is like any big US city at that time: traffic is slow.
Part of your taxi fare is includes time on the clock, so you can expect the fare anywhere to be higher if you spend many minutes just sitting.

I have used a van service in Paris and after the last experience I decided a taxi would be the better option after a long flight. Our hotel was on the edge of the 14th Arr. and we were the last people to arrive at their hotel.

If you are staying at a hotel located on the right bank, you should be among the first to reach your destination.

It depends on the mix of passengers in the van.

For 3 of you, depending on what the charge is for a young child, a taxi is only marginally more money. Look at the marginal cost as a percentage of total trip cost. I think the difference for my budget would be less than one half of one percent. Assuming the marginal cost for the taxi is $20, and you spend $1200 on airfare, $800 on your hotel for a
5 night stay, and another $1,000 for food and other expenses we are looking at 15/3000 which is .00667.

We'll I'm cancelling our shuttle and going for the taxi, more so than the cost, it's the risk of being the last stop on the shuttle after an 8 hour overnight flight with a toddler. At that point any amount of $$ would make it worth it.

I think you've made a wise choice. Your toddler won't be the only one tired and worn out from the long flight and from maneuvering through CDG.

After reading this thread, I am canceling our shuttle too! Question: there are cabs that can hold 3 adults and a 3 yr old, right? What about 4 adults and a 3 yr old? My sister might meet us at the airport and then travel to our apartment with us.

TIA,
L.

There are taxis large enough for 4 adults and a 3-year old. Just head for the taxi stand. The drivers are very efficient at quickly matching groups and their bags to vehicles.
