Airport Security Changes
I noticed on another thread that someone said there were security changes coming after May that would require more time at the airport. We are in Turkey from 15 May to May 30 and will have a few internal flights and will depart from IST to FRA on our way back to the US. I'm not sure if we will be effected by the changes but want to be prepared if we need more time.
I can't seem to find specific information about any changes. Can anyone give me more information or direct me to a website with details? |
We came through Charles De Gaulle on our way back from Italy in late March and we definitely faced added security lines. We went though the original security line, then again before we got to our gate we had another line where we had to show our passport and boarding passes again.

Please read the April 5 post of Ms_go.
We shall be flying to London this week and will also report on the airport time requirements. |
Nothing out of the ordinary at Heathrow last month. In fact I forgot to remove my plastic bag with the liquids and it went right thru the screening machine!

No one ever knows... sadly the flights to the US have to go by the TSA "rule of the day"
Just this Monday they had to "recheck" all the IDs when we boarded the flight in Atlanta to Orange County. WHY? What did that prove? That I hadn't lost it between the first security point and the "recheck" LOL! It did take three TSA agents, thereby showing me how my tax dollars are at waste, but.... |
I know, I do think some of these security steps are just a waste of time, just causing annoyance to ordinary passengers without actually making us any safer. I've heard a story about people being stopped at airport security because they are wearing a T-shirt with a drawing of a gun on it - http://www.airporthotels.com/blog/ne...rity-gone-mad/ - what possible danger can that pose?

Flew out of Gatwick last week and flew through the security lines.

Aren't they now patting down everybody and going through all hand luggage on flights from Europe to the USA a change from the so called random checks? (Of course it's an insult to the security operations at places like Heathrow where I think security is done vewry professionally but ever since the incident in Amsterdam, we all clamour for this kind of stuff, not realizing that simple competent would have kept that sub-human pos off the plane.

I'm still waiting for somebody to figure out that passengers continue to fly into the US without having to take their shoes off for security on the boarding end...and yet here within the US we continue to do the removing shoes routine...

I went through the same thing at CDG last October, and was also pulled out and patted down. Boarding was long, several questions asked before being allowed to proceed to the plane. And as usual, random checks of carryons on the jet way. |
The TSA in it's "wisdom" has decided that we have to be searched AGAIN before being allowed on the plane. Who KNOWS what this accomplishes besides "harrassment" but the TSA seems to equate "harrassment" with "security"
Just a few weeks ago they "rechecked" everyone's IDs as we boarded a ATL to LAX flight. I assume that this proved I had not lost my ID in the airport, but have no idea how this might have had any impact on security. It did however, provide employment for two agents and a supervisor!!! My tax dollars at waste! |
I noticed I had posted above on my Orange County flight... wonder if it's "flights across the country must be checked" (after all a terrorist would NEVER attack a short flight, would they?) LOL!
