Airport restrictions
I'm traveling to Italy in July and would like to know if a man's razor with cartridges like Excel or Mach 3 are allowed in carry-on bags. We are traveling light and we're not checking in our luggage. Haven't flown since 9/11 and would like to know how to pack. Also, if there is a list out there of airport restrictions, please let me know how to get to this list.

Not a problem. Have a great trip.

I've carried my razor, cartridge style, on US, European and Australian carriers since 9/11. It's fine. :) Here's a list direct from TSA on what's allowed and what isn't: http://www.tsa.gov/interweb/assetlib...12_18_2003.pdf |
I was just thinking of this exact question. Thanks for the helpful link, Clifton.

Thanks Clifton, this is exactly what I wanted to know!

Thanks for the list, Clifton. I noticed that corkscrews are on the list as acceptable for carry-on's. On a recent flight they confiscated my favorite corkscrew explaining to me that it had the tiny knife at the end of it to cut off the capsule.
My poor wife got tired of hearing all my unhappiness over the next couple of days. ((b)) |

These kinds of crappy surprises have been all too common in my experience. I have started carrying a self-addressed, stamped padded 6x9 envelope with me in my carry-on (more important for domestic travel than international it seems - - maybe because I do more of the latter, but also more last minute packing) - - I have had to scurry twice to mail something to myself before boarding. I understand that some airport shops and newstands are starting to carry these. |
Well, pre-9/11 when the so-called "security services" at airports were staffed with what we were subsequently told were a bunch of previously convicted felons and the like at least the people KNEW what a weapon looks like!
I was recently advised that my combination bicycle security cable would ahve to travel as checked baggage because it could be used as a weapon..I assume to strangle someone..who knows...but so could a pair of panty hose! |
