Airplane ticket prices
I will be needing two tickets to London (one-way) from Columbus, OH on April 17 and two tickets out of Paris (one-way) to Columbus, OH on April 22 or 23. So far, the best prices I have found are $438 per ticket for London trip and $792 per ticket for Paris trip. Are these reasonable prices? I actually have never bought plane tickets before, so I have no idea what is reasonable, especially for tickets to Europe. Any help would be great! Thanks :)

Try open jaw return on Kayak.com.
OHIO>LHR CDG>OHIO |
You can do it as one trip with " multi-cites".
Go to www.kayak.com --select the multi-city option--and input your itinerary. It should be less than one way fares. |
You are needing to buy an open jaw ticket, which means you are flying into 1 city and home from another. Go to www.kayak.com (as 1 option) and pick the multi city option instead of 1 way or round trip. Follow the prompts. I would be suprised if the price you get isn't less then what you were finding looking at 1 way itineraries. Good luck.

I did try putting in your dates and came up with $1900 on AA (or $1600+ with long layovers)and you already have a better price than that.
Your tickets sound good to me! |
Oh wow, thanks so much for the tip. I didn't know you could do that! Now I am getting a total price of $1002 per person.

Cleveland, OH is a lot cheaper than Columbus..
|
Oops, just read my post again. My departing date from Paris will be 4/29 or 4/30 (not 4/22 or 4/23).
|
I checked your itinerary using itasoftware.com which is about as comprehensive an aggregator site as it gets; prices were running around $1000 R/T.
If your dates are even more flexible you could use their "month-long view" to see when they would be the cheapest. |
If you find $438 fare to London take it; it's a bargain. You can always take Eurostar train (2h 15 min o/w) to Paris & back. Fares start at 69GBP for round trip (price depends on departure times). Eurostar can be booked on line http://www.eurostar.com

Thanks everyone! I am taking Eurostar from London to Paris in the middle of my trip. I would rather not take it back to London and fly out of London because it will be the Royal Wedding weekend, and I don't really want to be in London during that time.

plus all the extra taxes for flying OUT of London!
|
Airfares are high this upcoming year. I'll have to dish out $1296. rd trip for a non-stop from L.A.-Paris. Even the flights that make stops are about the same. Happy Travels!

I'm with hkto, $438? I hope you've booked it already :)
|
Does that include tax?
|
And does it include a possible fuel charge? Last year I bought a round-trip ticket from L.A.-Bangkok, by way of Tokyo and Singapore and it was around $323.00 rd trip. But, as I fly that route a lot, I knew that it didn't include the tax and the carrier fee (fuel charge). So, the total was $801.00 total. Still lower than the usual $1,800. But, add all the cost up. Happy Travels!
