Airline to Rome
Any thoughts on which is the best airline to fly to Rome from NY? Alitalia has a really good price. Has anyone flown them recently? Any thoughts on how they ae?
Thanks |
We flew Alitalia to Rome from JFK in July. It was perfectly fine- no delays, adequate legroom, OK food.

Thanks, The price is really good but I've been a little concerned because of some comments on a web page that talked about broken seats, rude flight attendants etc. It's a long flight.
Anyone else have any comments to add to this? helen251 |
There's always a chance of wildcat or short strikes by Alitalia workers.
Of the US airlines, CO flies from EWR and DL flies from JFK. CO's planes are newer with individual screens and larger overhead storage spaces. DL, however, has announced they'll provide complimentary wine during dinner, even in coach. It's $5/drink on CO. |
Go with Alitalia if you drink. If you want to sleep, go with Continental. I usually fly with British Airways because I like the videos. 18 channels on my last flight and no commercials.

We always fly continental direct from Newark. We prefer a Boeing plan instead of an airbus. As mentioned previously, with the Italian transportation you do have to be concerned of strikes but they usually do announce them in advance. But, if you have purchased your ticket and they decide to strike you will have a problem. It could be the air traffic controllers and then everyone is involved. Also be aware when using the trains they can go on strike as well. Good luck but don't worry too much about it. It usually works itself out.
