Airfares from GRX to BCN are sky high. How far is it to Malaga (AGP)?

Guess we waited too long to purchase airfare from Granada to Barcelona on July 13. Prices are quite high even on Vueling. Will fares come down as we get closer to the date? Should we consider flying out of AGP and, if so, how far a distance is it from Granada by Taxi? Is there a fast train or will it take up most of the day? Or should we just 'bite the bullet' and pay for the convenience of flying out of GRX?

The fastest way between Granada and AGP, if not using a car, is not less than one and a half hours by bus to Malaga city, plus fifteen minutes by train to AGP. - or two journeys a day (I think) direct to the airport - http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa -

Taxi journey perhaps 140km. €1 per km. as a guess.

Thanks, WomBatt, the train is no longer a consideration. Would you know if air fares generally come down as the date gets closer?

Airfares are not my forte. I am aware with budget airlines, like EasyJet and RyanAir the fare will increase closer to the flight date. However, the companies do have, supposed, summer, winter 'sales', but by then I am not interested, having purchased months prior.

what about Sevilla? If it is any better, can you change your trip around and end up in Sevilla?

air europa has a flight for 109E, which I don't find "sky high" for summer. But it does make one stop to change planes, but for 20E more yo have a non stop. Remember to calculate luggage fees on some of these airlines.

There's a non stop with Iberia for 102 from Sevilla. I'd avoid Ryanair for 45E..unless you are fine with the luggage fees, credit card fees, and carry-on rules.

If you DO fly Ryanair and do not have an EU passport, DO NOT FORGET TO PASS BY THEIR TICKET WINDOW TO GET YOUR PRE-PRINTED AT HOME BOARDING PASS STAMPED WHILE THEY LOOKAT YOUR PASSPORT. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE DEINED BOARDING.

You may have enough frequent flyer points from a sister company to pay for Iberia or Air Europa domestic flight.

lincasanova...Yes, it seems the Aireuropa flight, with a stop over in Palma de Mallorca, leaving at 12:40p is a lower fare ($155 plus baggage) than the Vueling nonstop flight leaving 8:40a. I don't know how long it takes to get to the Granada airport but not getting up at the crack of dawn is a plus. Thanks for the suggestions.

you can also book at their website. I gave you lastminute.es so you could see more local possibilities. I believe AE does not charge for first bag. Skyteam Partners, too, I think.
