Airfare to Rome in June

I've got my reservations made at the Marriott Grand Flora in June (13 to 21) and now need airfare. I want to go out of Charlotte or a nearby airport and want to go on USAir. The least expensive ticket I see today is around 800.00. Is that a good fare for that time of year and route?

Airfares jump in price after June 16 because school is out in most places. We saved $200 per ticket flying out the 15th. We are flying British Air, Seattle to Rome for $900. We're flying a lot farther than you, but you want to fly USAir. Just thought I'd give you a comparison.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy today at $800 (assuming that includes taxes). These are numbers (guesses) pulled out of the air, but I predict that if you wait four weeks (and watch diligently almost every day, like a hawk), you will have a

20% chance of saving $100
30% chance of paying the same
30% chance of paying an extra $100
20% chance of paying an extra $200

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]

How important is it that you fly USAir? Bestfares.com has just announced a spring and early summer special to Rome from a variety of cities. The RT price out of Charlotte is $498 if you fly between April 15 and June 30. However, I don't know which airline you would be taking in this case. Check out www.bestfares.com. Click on their Europe special on the home page and then scroll down until you come to the one you need.

www.autoeurope.com has some great prices to Rome in May and June. I don't know if they still have them but they offered Miami to Rome for $309 US plus tax. Presumably Charlotte would be approx. the same.

Some airlines offer this service: If the price of the ticket goes down after you purchase it (on the same day as you intend to fly) it will credit you the difference, if you call them. My flight just dropped $130/ticket today and AA credited me, no hassles. sweet.
