Airfare to Paris, $886 is this typical?
 

We plan on flying Delta from Cincinnati to CDG because it is non-stop, both ways.
CVG-CDG is 7:15pm-9:20am (next day)
CDG-CVG is 1:35pm-4:40pm

Is $886/ticket typical? should I wait?

To me, nonstop flights, good times, and a decent carrier are more important than the absolute rock bottom lowest price.

That said, I'm not familiar with flying out of Cincinnati.

How far off is your trip? That needs to be considered in how much you gamble on the price comig down.

I got airfare for $517 RT through 1800flyeruope. Not sure if it would be the same for Cincinnati.

Depends upon the time of year.

I paid $545 in September with all taxes for CVG-CDG direct in November.

Without dates, the question can not be answered.

...but I will say that in my experience, Delta seems to get a premium for their (somewhat limited) nonstop flights from Cincinnati. Just as the prices from CVG on Delta seem to run high to _everywhere_ !

Airfares are higher this year. When are you traveling? I paid just under $600, all taxes/fees included, for a trip this March, but I'm flying from Dulles and insist on non-stop.

It's probably a decent fare. But if you're not going until, say, next fall, I think you can afford to wait and see if there will be late winter/early spring sales.

Thank you for all the replies, our trip is May 23-Jun 1, for our 10th anniversary. We actually live in San Diego, but my parents live in Cincinnati, and we are leaving our children with them during our vacation.

I hate to wait too long to buy the tickets, but I woudn't think it would go up much more if I did wait? Would Delta tell me how many seats are still available if I called them? I usually look online at the 'pick your seats', but they don't have it for international, I guess.

They have a non-stop fares for your dates for $787. If you phone, they will tell you the airline. And, the phone reps could not be more terrific.

We originally were supposed to fly from Cincinnati for our recent trip to Rome on Delta. We bought out tickets in March (since Christmas is a popular time) and in May the flight was cancelled.

Delta re-configured us to fly Cincinnati to Newark and then to Rome. We switched our plans entirely to fly direct to Atlanta and from there non-stop to Rome.

Not sure how frequently that happens. It seemed very early to us to be dropping flights.

For 30-60 days, this might well be safe thinking. Be assured that by April, this fare could easily be $1200, if not more (for your dates).

I just booked Continental from Louisville to CDG for mid-May for $765.90 including taxes. Saved $10 by booking on line at continental.com as opposed to the price quoted by telephone.

Again I would highly encourage you to contact 1800flyeurope, too. As I replied earlier I got airfare to Paris for 517 RT for April '06. I made reservations mid-December. When I checked with other airlines the prices were 200-300 more. I had just learned about 1800flyeurope on this site. And as others on fodors have said, their customer service was excellent.

OK, the total from 1800FlyEurope is $1575, but the outbound flight is at 4:25pm, so I can't see how we'd get any sleep flying that early. The Delta total is $1850, and the outbound flight is at 7:15pm. All flights are nonstop.

I'm leaning toward waiting to see if the Delta flights go down some. We arew still 4 months out. I did check via FF page, and the flights are wide-open for seats.

How has anyones experience been with flying that early in the afternoon? Aren't you completely messed up for a few days? To make it more complicated, we are rally coming from San Diego and will only have 2 days in the eastern time zone before heading to Paris.

I'd pay that in a minute for a non-stop.

You are not going to get enough sleep on a 7.5 hour flight either way in coach, and you'll be tired in Paris the first day regardless. To some a 7:25pm departure is worth paying $80 more, most likely because they don't need to take time off that time from work. But it's up to you whether the difference is significant.

Both are non-stops. The 4:25 is Air France on an A340. The 7:15 is DL on a 777.

My flight to Paris leaves around 6:30 PM and I would have preferred later. However, even when I did take a later flights to Europe I still didn't sleep all that much (unlike my husband who falls asleep while the plane is still on the runway)-If I get a few hours of dozing then I am happy (on one trip to Italy that left in the later part of the evening I had a child near me with a croup sounding cough for the entire flight). I rather get into a city early, have breakfast, unpack and take a short nap. Then get up and take in the day until late evening. That's what I've found works best for us.
