Any ideas on reasonable airfare to Paris from the east coast (WAS or Newark) for August?

I've been checking and checking and there's nothing for August under $1000 roundtrip from the Balt./Wash. area. 1800flyeurope has some good prices for fall and winter travel. I'm struggling w/ the choice of biting the bullet for way out of budget airfare for August or cutting the trip short (only 5 touring days in Paris instead of 8) and going right before Thanksgiving for $490RT nonstop coach IAD-CDG all taxes and fees included. I had wanted to take a day trip to Giverny or Chartres or Dijon too. I really don't know what to expect weather wise in November in Paris, obviously colder, more layers to pack, more luggage to lug, etc. But this time we are only going to Paris so maybe it's okay to pack two bags. I do know how the weather will likely be in August and September - lovely and much warmer. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for your responses. in response to mdmomof7, we took our 3 children to Paris one winter break for 5 nights and it was a good time to go. one day was a cold rain, but otherwise we bundled up and took boat trip on the Seine, etc., etc. Didn't see gardens, but...

Thanks Virginia for the info and the encouragement. :-) Our 20th anniversary is in August so we wanted to try to go then, but the lesser airfare is tempting for November.

Thanks so much to Rex for reminding me about eurotrip. Their forum reminded me of USAir's (hate flying through PHIL, but I've got FF miles w/ them) Glasgow Scotland sale. Great prices still available less thatn $600RT all taxes and fees. Now to get from Glasgow to Paris, maybe Rome? lol!!

Wow! We're dealing w/ first week of Sept. dates and I'm trying to work out the Ryan Air flight from Glasgow to Paris and one of the dates has the 2.99GBP rate. That means the two of us could fly RT from Glasgow to Paris for 99GBP all fees/taxes included. That makes our airfare total (2 adults)for the entire trip $1235US!!! Bad news is that it's through PHIL. We'll just drive up there and avoid the connection and layover. Ugh!! I really don't know what to do now.

I can't believe we're up this late doing this. From my research, you are not going to get a better price...

You can try site59 for a last-minute package or fly to London first and then take the train.

I'm using the latter method for my July 4 long weekend in Paris ($493 on Virgin + 99 pounds Eurostar). Virgin had an inexplicably low fare from NYC and a few of us took advantage of it. By the way, it looked like the low fare only showed up on Orbitz.

Last year I did a similar thing. I used site59 and my last-minute ticket to London was $320. It's no longer possible to match this bargain as site59 now includes hotels in its packages.

I recently bought a ticket to Paris for September. After much search over the course of a month, I finally found a decent fare via Kayak.com on onetravel.com. The fare came up out of the blue and I might not have found it if I hadn't been running searches several times (okay, many times) a day.

You might try there as well. I will warn you that sometimes their best fares come up as a "White Carrier" fare, meaning they don't tell you the airline or the connecting flight information (if any). They just tell you that it's a major carrier and what time you leave from your initial city and arrive in Paris. For me this wasn't a problem but I has already searched for flights so much that I recognized the itinerary as being on American out of Chicago.

I would pick Nov over Aug anytime. Who wants to walk around in the heat sightseeing. It's just too hot. Nov is a pretty time to be there so is early spring. We just came back from southern France and Italy and it was hot some of the days that you were sweating and it was a little unbearable. That is my opinion......
