airfare to paris?

Delta currently has a fare of $685.50 direct to Paris from Philadelphia (the flights are actually Air France). We are not travelling until April '04, and I'm a bit superstitious about booking a flight so early. However, USAirway's current fare is over $1500. Is the Delta fare too good to pass up? Thanks!

I don't think that's a good fare for April. I'd wait. At least for under $600, maybe closer to $500.

I think you can do better that that in April. I'm going Continental from PIT(change plane in NWR) for $320 early March.
Re the high fare on USAirways: I've noticed that if I plug in dates on the website for too far in the future, they come up with some ridiculously high fare.

Wow, $450? I just put my dates (4/16-21) into the Usair website and it comes up as $1537, including a stop in Chicago. Is the $450 fare for non-stop flights?

Melissa, you should be able to get a cheaper flight. When I started looking for our Paris flight they were over $550. I kept searchingand waited a little bit and then was able to book Syracue - Paris for $409. Try orbitz.com, travelaxe.com, travelocity, expedia, and the airlines websites. Good luck!

Do you have some flexibility on the dates you're flying? I've sometimes gotten better prices when I fly out on a Wednesday and return the following Tuesday.

melissa...the problem is 16Apr.....the USAir flight is almost completely sold out....the lower fare I found was midweek to midweek.....If you are locked into 16Apr, go with the Delta..........S

You'll need to leave Mon-Thurs + stay over Sat. night. Also, many flights get pricey if you stay less than 7 days, especially as you approach summer. On best fares.com right now they are advertising all kinds of filghts to Europe for less than $300/RT. Keep looking.

THAT IS TOO MUCH FOR APRIL TRAVEL
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING UNTIL JAN/FEB
I TRAVEL TO PARIS AT LEAST 5X A YEAR AND IF YOU WAIT YOU CAN GET A FARE FOR AROUND $400
ALSO I WOULD RECOMMEND BRITISH AIR OR AIR FRANCE
TRY TO BE SOMEWHAT FLEXIBLE WITH THE DAYS LEAVE ON A MONDAY OR TUESDAY RETURNING ON THE SAME TO GET THE BEST RATES I TRAVELED IN APRIL 03 AND PAID $292 !!!!! I WENT BACK IN JUNE, THEN AGAIN OCTOBER AND NEVER PAY MORE THAN $600
HOLD OFF KEEP LOOKING
GOOD LUCK

Good luck.

My husband just told me of 4 nights rdtrp NY to paris hotel included (and other departure cities avail) Nordique Tours through Travelzoo for $399 through March 31. They have other departure cities available.

Another one --Through Swiss International Airlines NY-Paris $270 rdtrip travel dates through April 30th.

I think if you shop around you can surely do much better than what Delta is doing for you, even if you have to fly to NY.

Hi Melissa,

You are leaving on a Friday, which is more expensive than Wednesday or Thursday.

You can book the same flight on AirFrance for $555 through
http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm

If you go on Thursday, it's $535.

Thanks, everyone. I guess I will try to be patient and start checking fares again in the new year. It will be my first trip to Paris so I'm rather excited!

You might look at the airline sites and shop for a hotel/flight package. They can sometimes be quite economical.

Hi cricket,

Is that plus taxes? If not, that's a very good price.
