Airfare to Italy in Late November

Hi!
I'm planning on spending my honeymoon for one week in Florence over the Thanksgiving holiday and was wondering what the normal airfare was for that time? Right now they're hovering between $700 and $770. I thought I may be able to get a $400-$500 fare if I wait. Do you think that's possible?

Thanks
Lisa

Lisa, I would wait until 90-120 days prior for a deal. That time of year is always slow. Do not exclude Pisa as a flight option.

Lisa, definitely keep your eyes open for good sales. Last week, I found $386 including taxes over Thanksgiving weekend (Chicago-Milan) on a special, but am seeing much higher prices right now. Last November, I used the Alitalia $399 RT special into Florence. Where are you flying from?

Of course it does depend on where you'll be flying from, but you definitely should be able to get airfare to Rome from the east coast for way below $700. I believe we paid around $500 from Atlanta to Rome last November, and this trip was booked about a month prior to departure.

I'm flying from Chicago. You really got airfare this early for that cheap? I'm jealous! How'd you do it?

hi,
apps.flights.com did have rates as low as $347 (add abt $100 for fees, etc)for Chicago to Pisa or Florence, but the lowest currently available is $682.

You might want to watch Continental for specials.

Yes, definitely wait until mid/late summer. We tend to travel to Europe during Thanksgiving and have found good deals online with Delta in late July and early August. Over the past couple years we paid $399 from NY to Rome (purchased in July, traveled in Nov) and $367 from O'Hare to Madrid (purchased in Aug, traveled in Nov). Sign-up for each airline's Deal Alerts and keep checking their websites.
