Airfare question from DC to Madrid
I'll be travelling roundtrip from Washington, DC, to Madrid in May. Currently, the best prices are around $600. I thought the fare might drop because of the war but them I was wondering if it might skyrocket if gas prices go up. I generally wait until about a month before I travel but I thought I'd seek advice from the more experienced travellers. Is $600 as good as it's going to get? I'm travelling alone if that has any bearing.

Another way of putting your question is: if you buy now, and the fare drops later, would you be able to rebook at the lower fare and get a refund of the difference?
Air travel demand dropped because of the war. The airlines are cutting back on flights. So, supply and demand are both decreasing, in general. Jet fuel prices might go up because of supply pressure, or the may not due to easing of demand.

No, I'm not actually asking that question. I wasn't really thinking about trying to get a refund on the difference later. I just wanted to get an idea of how reasonable people thought a $600 roundtrip fare from DC to Madrid in May is - either in general or given the current political and economic climate. From your response, I gather that it will either make no difference or be impossible to predict in which case I'm just curious to know if $600 is around the ballpark of what someone with my itinerary would pay. Thanks.
