Airfare Question

What are best websites for finding good fares to the UK? (I did a search but threads weren't recent.) Will need to go over in Jan. or Feb. but won't know return date (probably in May) until Mar. or April.
Thanks for any suggestions,

Hot Wire if you dont care when you leave and who you are flying, I found good fares on Orbitz to. I am flying in April and from where I am its kind of pricy but since you live in a real part of the US it should be pretty cheap.

Looked up a ticket from DC to LHR leaving in Jan 23 coming back in April 30 and the average is about 450 round trip...DIRT Cheap if you ask me...but then I am paying 750 to go. Hope it helps at all

Search here for "consolidators" or "Gur" or "joyoftravel" - - this will bring up various old and recent threads on alternatives to "published" fares.

Best wishes,

Rex

If you don't know your return date, you'll probably need to be ready to pay a stiff change fee. Any time you find a cheap fare, be sure to look at the "fare rules" (small print) where you will likely be able to see the cost of date changes.

Otherwise you might look at Aer Lingus out of NYC on a one-way basis. You'd need to go through Dublin or Shannon but I'm seeing one-way fares to London in the $250 range (or $150 to Shannon or Dublin, then Ryanair onward for a pittance.) Then gamble that you'll be able to find a cheap fare back once you know the date.

www.majortravel.co.uk is worth checking. i got a return to the west coast from the uk for £275. www.travelocity.com is good for comparisons.

Did anybody stay in hotel Bologna in Verona? Which one would you recommend hotel Bologna or hotel Verona?

LoveItaly Dec 11th, 2004 05:26 PM

milaf, you should start your own thread using a title such as "Hotels in Verona?" in the title. That way you will receive answers.

I have found the best prices by going directly to the British Airways website. I paid $539 for a round trip ticket for January, flying out of Houston to London. I could have got a cheaper flight but I need to fly on a week-end. If I had bought them a little earlier I could have gotten a little better price. I like BA because they offer non-stop flights.
